Sorry if this topic has been discussed in the past, but I was moved to post.

My Tivo is set to auto-record anything with "Adam Carolla" in the description, and the other day, it recorded an episode of Dawson's Creek entitled "Lovelines". I'd heard Adam and Drew complain incessantly about their trips to the East Coast to shoot this show, but I'd never watched the series.

What a God awful television program. It truly embodies everything that is wrong with entertainment today. That being said, I enjoyed watching Adam and Drew immensely. The main reason I'm posting though, was that I found Drew's acting to be quite good! At least when put against the canvas of Dawson's Creek. I guess I'd heard Adam ripping on Drew so much about his lack of acting talent/timing/showmanship that I was expecting something awful, but I was pleasantly surprised. I'm the first guy to say that Adam's constant berating of Drew is just part of their entertaining dynamic, but I always feel a little bit sorry for Drew when Adam mocks him about the Olsen Twins movie. Granted, that movie is infinitely mockable, but Drew was so supportive of Adam's Late Late Show hosting by comparison.

And speaking of Adam, he was a little bit painful to watch on Dawson's Creek, and dare I say...less photogenic than Drew. Much of it was due to the writing. Drew played a sincere, sympathetic character, and Adam played a ridiculous, over-the-top poon-hound caricature of himself...a crass exaggeration of their roles on their actual show. It disappoints me when Adam allows himself to be dumbed-down for mass consumption. I suppose I understand why he does it: $ex $ells, and Dennis Miller's career is evidence that intelligent comedy doesn't sell.

Anyway, I think the Dawson's Creek episode is worth checking out. There was a brief few seconds where I felt I saw a lot of the "real" Adam and Drew shining through: Adam gave Drew some crap over using the word "panacea", and Drew backed up defensively much as he does on the radio show. If I had a vidcard that had video input, I'd digitize if for y'all.

There is a digital version of this episode available in the hub, although it is in .wmv format (at least the version I encoded is), and it is 220 megs - but if you haven't seen it, it's probably worth a download for most fans. I'll agree that Adam's character was far too over the top (he can really only blame himself though, he didn't read the script before agreeing to do the show), but it did have it's moments.
