Adam's Grandmother

Anyone else notice the immediate reaction last night when Andy Dick asked Adam if he got those used washer and dryers for his 91 year old grandmother?

And immediate, "HELL NO!" without even a slight pause. I knew that he didn't like most of his family, but his grandmother too???? Wow, I'd say that I'd like to read his autobiography, but I think we've all heard it already.

Adam's grandmother is a nutcase. She used to walk around naked in front of him a lot as a child. She asked if anyone knew what a rimjob was at a holiday dinner one year. She frequently argues with adam about stuff dr. drew says on the air. She doesn't really believe that dr. drew is a real doctor(even though doctor is his first name!). She favors her local doctors and mostly she just argues about the pronunciation of clitoris(like a dinosaur with emphasis on 'or', or just all mushed together).

Yeah, Adam unfortunately seems to come from a long line of retards.

Anybody have a clip of Adam telling the story about his grandmother bringing up the rimjob at the dinner table? I can't remember if there is one or not, but it's one of the funniest stories I've ever heard, not just from Adam, but from anyone.

Try the one with Mimi Rogers.

My favorite thing she has said was when she was trying to get out of a car Adam had and she sort of got stuck and part of the seat was in her crotch and she said "Hasn't been anything up there in a while" or something along those lines. I bet she is a hoot!

Adam hates them but remember Drew saying how when he met them at his wedding how delightful they really were.

She's a psychologist or psychiatrist, I think. So is his dad. He never seems to mention that. I think you kinda see that when he and Drew take calls.

Yup, she's a sex psychologist.

I thought she was a sex therapist. Adam always brings up her pronunciation of "clitoris".

I think alot of the stuff Adam says on the air is part of his "comedy routine". I don't think he really hates his family.

Back in 1995 or 1996, Adam's dad subbed for Dr. Drew. He hadn't stayed up that late in decades so as the show went on, you could tell he was fighting to stay awake. He also tried to psychoanalyze each caller but Adam had to remind him that the show was only two hours long.

"Back in 1995 or 1996, Adam's dad subbed for Dr. Drew..."

Wow, are you sure? If so, this is the first time I have ever heard it mentioned.

"I thought she was a sex therapist."

I believe this is correct... there is a big difference between a psychologist and a therapist, and I can only recall Adam ever calling her a therapist.

Yeah, I'm sure. I even taped that but it was so long ago and like 20 moves later I don't have it now. I guess he's a true psychologist now because back then he was about to do his dissertation I believe. I will always remember Adam introducing his father as "Pops Carolla." I don't remember much except for I was entertained and Adam was very nice to his dad.

Sounds like a very unique and interesting show, I think I will add it to my wishlist.

If half the stuff he says about his childhood is true, he'd better hate his family.

Y'know, as crazy as that sounds, I do think I remember Adam mentioning that his dad came on the show once before. Oh please Jesus, someone has to have this show...

I thought I'd heard everything about his grandmother, but I didn't know she used to walk around naked in front of him. Yuck.

If this thing about Adam's dad being on the show is true, then I am going to do my damdest to call in Sunday or Monday and get the scoop. Maybe, if I get on and don't get put on hold immediately, I'll beg Anderson to try and get the clip, although I know Anderson wasn't on back then, and the likelyhood that he'll be able to find it somewhere is very remote.

Adam's dad wanted to drop by the show. Of course, it doesn't air at 7:30 on a Saturday.

"I'll beg Anderson to try and get the clip..."

According to Anderson, they have no archive of shows older than 1 year - at some point he explained that for some sort of legal reason they don't keep shows older than a year... so having him "get the clip" is very unlikely (the conspiracy theorist in me still thinks he may have been lying, though).

Man, that sucks, that seems like a really retarded thing to do. I'll bet that Anderson at least squirls some things away, but doubt he'd admit it on air. The real question would be if Mike squirled them away anyway, not Anderson.

On a side note, I'd LOVE to have a bunch of the clips where Anderson "accidentally" left the recorders on while on a break, listening to Adam and Drew talk uninhibited, like that one clip on this site, I'm sure he has a lot more...

If they can't legally keep recordings of the show, then what's the legality on the downloadable shows from the hub and the ftp servers? Just curious.

I don't want to say this as fact, because I don't know for sure, but when I said "legal reason" I didn't mean that it was illegal for them to keep copies of their own show; What I recall hearing is that they don't keep recordings in order to avoid being tangled in lawsuits etc. where people would subpoena recordings from them. Keep in mind I may be wrong about this.

As for the legality of downloading shows... Westwood One owns the copyright to every show - and copyright law is what is allowing the RIAA to strongarm p2p users, so draw your own conclusions. I will say though, I believe there is a huge moral difference between downloading commercially available music and downloading a radio show.

I also KNOW that we can make copies of anything we own for our own personal use. You can have 4 copies of "St. Anger". One for each of your cars, one for the beach house and the regular house. It's called private use or something along those lines. You purchase a copyright of sorts when you purchase commercial music. It covers personal usage of almost any kind.

As for Loveline, I would imagine it falls under the same usage laws, but using DC++ would violate your personal usage rights. Probably. Of course, WW1 doesn't have a lot of time to pursue us, maybe. I hope. Please.
