Really? That's cool. I think Adam would do well on his own show. What do you think?

It would probably mean the end of Loveline however.

I swear to Christ we had this thread active like two weeks ago, and it got like 100 responses. We concluded that Adam would not do well with his own show.

Adam hates TV - Well, at least appearing on TV. He enjoys writing for TV and the cash TV brings, but his comfort level is seriously low when he is on camera.

I think he is interested in the job just because he would like to tell people it was offered to him (not for bragging or anything, just as a point of fact). I really doubt he would accept it if it was offered to him.

Also I agree that the show probably wouldn't be that great because of the restraint Adam would be under just because it's TV - Also he would have to kiss ass to all the guests that he really feels are total a-holes...

Personally I think Adam would make a great host and maybe Dr Drew could be the first operatic band leader. He could just sing opera in and out of commercial breaks and laugh at Adam's quirps.

They could make Germany or Florida the daily joke, like Letterman's Top 10 List.

This just in:
CONAN O'BRIEN TO TAKE OVER 'TONIGHT SHOW' IN '09.
Jay Leno will continue to be at the helm of "The Tonight Show" for another five years, well into 2009, after which time Conan O'Brien will become the host of "The Tonight Show." Jay will officially make the announcement on his show tonight.

This is likely a pre-emptive strike to keep Conan from being poached by CBS (although as I've said earlier, I doubt that would've worked anyway).

I'm really not sure how seriously Adam is being considered, but I still say that he would never do it as long is Jimmy is on the air. But I really don't think CBS/Worldwide Pants is that serious about Adam. . . I'm thinking more likely it'll be someone like Chris Rock.

And another thing:
Dear dear dear dear dear friend David Alan Grier is also slated to guest host on the Late Late Show.
Other names on the list:
Michael Ian Black, Ana Gasteyer, Tom Arnold, Tom Dreesen, David Alan Grier, Ahmad Rashad, Jim Rome, and Aisha Tyler.

Do we really need an announcement five years ahead of time? Jay, let us know your intentions in 2008.

It's probably just an attempt to not have another debacle like when Carson left. Also, it was probably a big help in getting Conan to stay signed for another five years, the promise of moving up in 2009.

Wierd thing is, Conan's fans aren't really "The Tonight Show's" fans. Seriously, Conan had a skit once where a dude was dry humping a mound of hamburger meat. I LOVED it, but I'm not sure the "blue hairs" that watch Jay are really going to enjoy that, or the masturbating bear.

Doesn't make sense to me why Conan would even WANT the tonight show slot. I guess he is more concerned with prestige than I thought he was. All this speculation about Adam going to the Late Late Show has made me really interested in seeing him do it, bad or good, I'd like to see him given a shot.

by 2009 im sure Letterman will leave, Leno will be gone, Conan will be on the tonight show who will do Late Night? Kimmel maybe? Then there's the Late Show and Late Late Show slots. Who will be taking those, Carolla? I would like to see Carolla do a good job on the Late Late Show because he's way more talented than kimmel and his skits on loveline would work great.

Jesus, all this talk of Letterman leaving really sucks. Lets me know how old I am, I was watching him back in the days when he would dress up in the velcor suit and jump up and get attached to the velcro wall. Or when he would sit at his desk and let one of the stage hands drop a bunch of stuff on him from a huge tub from the ceiling.

Oh yeah? -- I used to watch Letterman's morning show. ;)

Y'know, Faygo brings up a good point -- Everyone who says Adam would never wanna go head to head with Jimmy isn't looking at the big picture -- There's always a (perhaps very remote) possibility that five to ten years down the line, CBS's late night line up would be Jimmy Kimmel hosting the Late Show and Adam Carolla hosting the Late Late show -- I mean, consider the fact that Letterman will probably wanna retire in the next few years, paired with the fact that there's no bigger fan of Dave's than Jimmy Kimmel himself -- when it comes time to seek a replacement for Dave, it's not outrageous to assume that Jimmy would love to take over Dave's show -- not to mention getting the earlier time slot.

Whoa,Masteel...I REMEMBER that drop from the ceiling thing. It was called "Al Maher's Box of Thrills." BTW, I too watched his morning show.

As far as the CBS/Carolla possibility, I've grown skeptical of ANY mass-media speculation, and even of OFFICIAL announcements. That is, of course, unless/until such things actually come to fruition.

Anybody remember Letterman's old "Camping with Barry White?" or the "Musuem of the Hard to Believe?"

You guys are forgetting that Jon Stewart is in the mix of late night. He's signed through 2008 at Comedy Central and I think Letterman is signed through 2008 as well. If Letterman decides he's done (which I don't think he is, I say Letterman stays ten years after Leno leaves out of spite), it should be noted that Dave has always liked Jon. Jon filled in for Tom Snyder and I'm almost positive he was offered the 12:35 slot in '99 but turned it down.

Jimmy has created something out of nothing at ABC, I don't think they'll dump him anytime soon. Depending on what happens with Nightline and Ted Koppel, ABC might even be in the Jon Stewart sweepstakes in '08 at 11:35. Jon has made it clear he'll only go to a network for a 11:35 slot.

Does anybody know when Ted Koppel's Nightline contract is up?
