Tuesday, September 21, 2004 at 7:42 PM Several nights back Adam was talking smack about Rodney Dangerfield - not too fond of the guy, probably for good reason. Anyway, now it's in the news that Dangerfield is in a coma following heart surgery -- after weeks of issuing statements saying he was recovering nicely, his wife admitted he'd slipped into a "light coma" a couple weeks ago. "Light coma"? I'd love to hear Dr. Drew's medical spin on that. Isn't that like being "slightly pregnant"? —baja |

Wednesday, September 22, 2004 at 2:49 PM Dangerfield is a goner, he's gonna die in 2004, guarenteed. I don't know what's adam's problem but he's a comic legend, you can't cut'em some slack because he's 83 now, and really doesn't know what's going on anymore, probably feeling pain and really fed up with the world. I know i would be like that at 83. R.I.P. Jacob Cohen 1921-2004 —Faygo |

Tuesday, October 5, 2004 at 7:46 PM >>>There are definitely levels of comas. The term "light coma" is not always used, but there are ways to assess the "depth" of the coma. I was a paramedic for 11 years, never really considered the GCS as a 'coma' measurement tool, more of a way to judge a persons level of consciousness. Someone who is unconscious is not necessarily in a coma... All this is moot though - Rodney Dangerfield made me laugh more times than I can possibly remember. For that, I am grateful. —HazeTrooper |

Wednesday, October 6, 2004 at 9:37 AM Drew should understand why it was called a "light coma." Dangerfield's wife called it that -- obviously she did not waive Rodney's confidentiality so the doctor could more objectivly and corrected describe the condition. Drew as a doctor should take that into consideration. He rails against the "media" but what would he want them to do? Talk to a doctor who has no idea Rodney's specific condition? Try to talk to his doctor and break the law? The papers made it explictly clear that the reason they described the coma as "light" was because of comments by his wife. Ugh -- Drew annoys me. —Marc |

Wednesday, October 6, 2004 at 10:29 AM http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,134575,00.html LOS ANGELES . Rodney Dangerfield (search), the bug-eyed comic whose self- deprecating one-liners brought him stardom in clubs, television and movies and made his lament "I don't get no respect" a catchphrase, died Tuesday. He was 82. Dangerfield, who fell into a coma after undergoing heart surgery, died at 1:20 p.m., said publicist Kevin Sasaki. Dangerfield had a heart valve replaced Aug. 25 at the University of California, Los Angeles, Medical Center. —ZT |
