Tuesday, August 24, 2004 at 8:49 PM What do you think? Adam and Drew bring this up a lot on the show, that males and females are never just friends, especially at a younger age, that one is initially interested in the other, but more importantly, the other isn't. This might change with age, but is definitely the rule more than the exception through the teens and early twenties. I've had limited experience with this, but it seems true to me. But my g/f doesn't think this is true, and the way she put it, she was kind of right, that not ALL her guy friends want to bang her. Which is true, but I think it's different when you're hanging out in a group of friends, than if you make the effort to call the person to hang out on their own, and invite them over when no one is home. Before we started dating, I'd asked her to hang out a lot, b/c I liked her, and I thought she liked me because she would always be calling me and all that, but she said it was just being friendly, she didn't like me for a really long time. That's sort of another thing, like how guys will read into something when nothing is there. Even though I can take hints, if it wasn't really for listening to Loveline, I'd probably mistake a lot of signs as interest. But again, she says she thinks that's just me, that a lot of guys can take hints. And two of her friends did end up asking her out, which seemed like pretty clear indicators this is at least partially true. But she has a lot more she grew up with who never made a move and she doesn't think they were interested. So, I'm wondering if A, they were, or B, Adam and Drew's theory needs honing. What are you personal experiences and thoughts on this subject? —piesore |

Tuesday, August 24, 2004 at 11:43 PM As someone with no friends and no lovers I have absolutely no experience in this area. Although I'm sure that if I had friends that could get past the stench, not all of them would be male. Why am I sure? Because God loves me so. —MajandraFan |

Wednesday, August 25, 2004 at 10:03 AM Honestly out of all of the girl "friends" I have, I would probably sleep with them all if given the chance. Now that you bring this up, I realized this and notice my motivation to being their friend was indeed a sexual one. Sad maybe, but it is the truth. Then again I'm only 17 and I'm sure my motivation will be different when I reach a more mature age and my sex drive isn't as high as it is now. It's an interesting debate but that's my experience on the matter. —OldTrafford017 |

Wednesday, August 25, 2004 at 4:38 PM I'm also 17 and I have a girlfriend, and as every guy knows when you get a girl, you have to automatically get along with her friends or things dont really work out. I'm friends with my girlfriends pals, but I dont think i'd bang half of them, but maybe its just because they're not good looking. I have friends that are girls though I would for sure bang if I had the chance and wasnt with someone. This brings up two good lovelines points; Good looking chicks always have a few ugly friends so they feel better about them selves, and well, a 17 year old guy will bang just about anyone as long as the said person is hot. Did that make sense? —Darkfloyd |

Wednesday, August 25, 2004 at 4:47 PM Even though it was kind of satirical, there was a lot of truth in it. But sometimes being a friend for a long time can make them attracted to you. It's rare, but it happened. —piesore |

Wednesday, August 25, 2004 at 5:54 PM But are you really friends with your girlfriends pals? Or are they mostly aquaintences? Like, would you still be friends with them if you broke up with her, and do you call them to ask and hang out outside of being around them with your girl. —piesore |

Wednesday, August 25, 2004 at 6:51 PM Maybe we should clarify it a little more by saying a guy will have sex with any girl who is a friend of his and he finds her (atleast remotely) physically attractive. —steve |

Wednesday, August 25, 2004 at 7:24 PM I think the point of Adam and Drew's theory is not that guys would bang their female friends if those friends are hot, but rather that guys will only actively try to maintain a friendship with someone that they would like to bang. That is to say, guys might just be shallow enough where, if the ultimate goal isn't bagging the girl, then why not be friends with more guys, who generally are easier for guys to be friends with.
