Sunday, August 22, 2004 at 9:45 PM Hey everyone, a few weeks ago the very generous plurry sent me some VHS tapes of Loveline on MTV that he has had stored for a while, and I have been working on converting them to digital form. Earlier today I finished converting the first one on the tape to Divx, and I now have it shared in the DC hub in both my share and on "Kevin_File_Server" (the file server has a better upload speed). The show is missing some of the beginning and has Joey McIntyre as a guest. It is about 183 megabytes. The file is labeled: "Loveline (MTV) - Early 1999 (Missing beginning)(Guest - Joe McIntyre)(divx).avi" I hope that over the next week or two I will get the rest of them encoded and shared (there are 8 total) - but school starting this week might stretch that out a bit. I have no idea on who might actually want this download, but if the response is moderate, there might be a bit of a bottleneck on the supply side at first (I will try and give priority to this download). So... if you end up having to wait, feel free to take that opportunity to explore the treasures of the DC hub... And, thanks for sharing the shows plurry! —Kevin U. |

Monday, August 23, 2004 at 5:48 PM This could be a question that has been asked a million times but I've been listening since 00', when the tv show was on loveline, did they do the radio show at the same time? —Faygo |

Monday, August 23, 2004 at 9:51 PM Faygo -- I think they shot the MTV show on off-days (Friday & Saturday) -- 2 to 4 episodes per day of shooting. By the way, does anyone remember if the TV show was ever on live? -- Meaning, they gave out the phone number during the show and took calls the same way they do on a typical live radio show. If all of the shows were taped ahead of time, then who were these callers and how did they know to call the show (hypothetically) at 2 o'clock on a Saturday afternoon? That's always driven me crazy -- I've never been able to figure out the logistics of the MTV show. —steve |

Monday, August 23, 2004 at 9:56 PM Each break they would put a phone number on the screen and say "Call us 24 hours a day" - I imagine they would "screen" those calls, probably by having the callers leave a message with their problem, and call back the interesting ones on days that they were taping the show. I may be wrong, but that seems to be the only possibility. —Kevin U. |

Monday, August 30, 2004 at 9:56 PM Edited Monday, August 30, 2004 at 9:56 PM I finally downloaded one of these old shows and I can't believe I miss it. With all it's faults (mostly foisted upon them I'm sure by the many uber-hacks at MTV) it still was really interesting. I can't believe It hasn't been picked up again with a better format by some channel somewhere. It was actually REAL reality TV, and just as cheap. If Stern, Imus, and Franken can do it, so can Adam and Drew. —Logo Lou |
