Friday, August 20, 2004 at 12:39 AM i've got the A-HA! that was most of the show (perez rulez), but what about the Never Fail? is that in regards to never failing to pay your rent, (thus buying your own house)? if so i get it, but quite ambiguous. —redsmith007 |

Sunday, August 22, 2004 at 1:55 AM Edited Sunday, August 22, 2004 at 2:05 AM For whatever reason, when I was labeling that show, Adam saying, "Most people spend the majority of their lives planning to fail, yet never actually failing..." stuck in my head. It was a nice commentary on the innate sense of pessimism that tends to unconsciously pervade the lives of most human beings. For whatever reason, human nature (in many cases) tends to err in favour of self-destruction as opposed to self-preservation. Adam's "never fail" speech served as a nice reminder to consciously over-ride that negative impulse. (edited to add) Sorry if some of these titles come off as a little vague -- the title ultimately serves as a keyword to jog my memory in reference to the show's contents. As evidenced in this particular case, if I were to put what I was actually thinking, the title would be more of a paragraph and less of a catch phrase or key word, and hence, I tend to settle for generic simplicity over lengthy description.

Monday, August 23, 2004 at 9:35 AM Just wanted to say that I really like those labels (and picking up the references once I listen to the show.) I usually try to take a wild guess beforehand on what they mean, then see how close I get (though usually not very). —quarky |

Monday, August 23, 2004 at 3:09 PM Hey, thanks. The labels were something that I've always used. It was only recently with this particular question that I "realized" other people were actually seeing them too. I felt kind of embarrassed having my "private" notes on "public" property. :) —steve |

Wednesday, August 25, 2004 at 7:32 PM I would like to second the praise for the notes. Also, that part about failing stuck in my mind too. It was one of the more motivational Adam excerpts (at least for me) —NJC |
