Tuesday, August 17, 2004 at 8:30 PM Edited Tuesday, August 17, 2004 at 8:33 PM No, I don't think it's the money. I think it's the chance to hobnob with celebrities. Something about the presence of cameras and celebrities tends to stultify even reasonably intelligent people. The quickest way to turn almost anyone into a simpering idiot is to put him in a room with movie stars and TV cameras. This might make a good topic for a thread. There's an old saying to the effect that you lose one IQ point for every year you spend in Hollywood. Is there anybody here who can confirm or disprove that old saw? —Coleman |

Tuesday, August 17, 2004 at 11:39 PM With my Brobdingnagian granitic penis, I could make a shitload of money in porn. And I'd last a helluva lot longer than 30 seconds, Bubba. But you already knew that. —Perma Hardon |

Wednesday, August 18, 2004 at 11:08 AM Having recently downloaded and listened to the May 2002 episode discussing Adam's income over the years, I'd say that Adam disproves that old saw. That's if you like the IQ system. —MajandraFan |

Wednesday, August 18, 2004 at 12:06 PM At long last MF makes a good point in intelligible prose. Thanks. That wasn't so hard, was it? Adam is definitely the exception to the rule. Of course, he's still on the fringe of the entertainment biz. It would be an interesting experiment to see what would happen to him if he ever made it to the big time in Hollywood, achieving a Travolta or Cruise level of success. As long as he didn't abandon his old crew of jack-off blue-collar buddies, he'd probably stay grounded. But how long would he remain level-headed if he spent all his time hanging around ding-a-ling stars? Would Adam have the strength of character to retain his common sense? The shameless way he sometimes sucks up to the occasional movie star or director who appears on Loveline is a little worrisome. (Case in point: that show with the guy who directed Identity.) —Coleman |

Friday, August 20, 2004 at 12:31 AM And who deserves money more than a group of professionals that hold the community hostage against the fear of mortality? Pay us lots of money, or you can fucking die. Loveeeee doctors. Yeah, they work so hard in tertiary education. Much, much harder than people working blue collar jobs for 11 hours a day. So tough. I mean really, what's harder, medical school or coal mining? The difference is that the doctors are smart enough to do the doctoring, not that they have the gumption to go through medical training. Fuck. —MajandraFan |
