I gathered from hub chat last night that the 91x stream was broken; meaning the two people with fastest recording turn around times, puck and steve, probably didn't get the show. I imagine Mike will have his KROQ recording available in the hub sometime later today, and after I record tonight's day-delay I will have it shared.

Correct. I'll try to record tonight off the day-delay stream and get it up tonight. I grabbed Blood's copy off Usenet, but he removed the songs so I didn't wanna share that file. It looked like Robb235 on the hub had a recording of it, but I couldn't connect to him to see what it was. And Mike's recording is nowhere to be found as well.

Not sure how your day-delay recording went puck, but I've got my copy shared now - and it's currently transfering to my "server" computer - incase anyone still needs it, it should be available on either in a little bit. Bed time.

I actually got Mike's show and converted it to my specs, though I did record a day delay stream too, but didn't end up using it and am just using Mike's.

Yep -- I'm glad to hear I wasn't the only one who couldn't pick up the 91X livestream on Thursday night. I ended up recording the day-delay, so as far as I know all the NJC sites should have it by now.

Yeah, I'm glad I wasn't the only one too...a couple weeks ago I thought there was a stream problem when really it was a problem with my settings. :p Anyway, here's hoping it's up and running at the right time tonight!

Anyone know anything about 91X's Sunday night stream? It went dead for me around 1:00 AM, just when Loveline was supposed to start. But it wasn't like last week; it connected and played silence as long as I'd let it. What gives?

91x's broadcast of the show starts an hour later on Sundays; stream listeners hear dead air during the extra hour. Since their broadcast tower is in Mexico, in order to keep their Mexican broadcast license, they are required to simulcast the "Hora Nacional" every Sunday - but they don't play it over the stream, hence the delay and dead air. It should be on now.

Kevin, how many times does this question need to be asked before you finally add Sunday's times to the FAQ?? :-P

Well, with all respect to my Mexican brothers, that seems more than a little retarded, but (all together now...) cannot judge.

This is all part of the learning curve of taping the show, I guess. I'll get that damn show taped YET!

Puck, I will add it to the FAQ... but it will still be asked ;) I'm pretty sure no one actually reads the FAQ before asking questions.

Not that it's pertinent to this forum, but we should add, "Why can't I orgasm?" to the faqs. :)

Most internet users can't achieve orgasm until they're in their 50's, and only then if they've found a reciprocating sexual partner.

Do I get credit for having read the FAQ before asking my question? ;)

Anyway, new problem: My stream lost it's connection like an hour in. Is there any way with Win Media Player to either make the connection stronger or to have it automatically reconnect? I've got a cable modem, and I'm not doing anything else with my computer while I'm taping, so I didn't break it off on my end.

I noticed it like 20 minutes later, reconnected it manually and it taped fine until the end, but I ended up with a 20 minute chunk of silence. Any better way to do this? I'm surprised Total Recorder doesn't have a "automatic reconnect" function.

(And for the record, maybe I'm ahead of the curve on this one, but I achieved orgasm within minutes of first getting on the internet over 10 years ago. I think it's female internet users who have the orgasm issue.)

I've actually found the quickest re-connect time to be through the livestream link -- meaning, when I'm recording the show, I leave the 91X "listen live" page open. Any time liquid player drops the stream for more than 2 or 3 seconds, I close it and open a new player through the link on the livestream page -- I've tried the "stop" and "play" buttons on Windows Media Player, but nothing picks up the stream faster than simply opening a new player. As far as Total Recorder goes, I always push the "stop" button whenever the player loses the stream and (obviously) push "record" again, once the stream is re-established, that way, even something as long a 20 minute stream-loss is only experienced as a 1 or 2 second gap in the actual recording. This is the same method I use with commercials as well -- I.E.: "stop" when they go to break -- "record" when they come back. By the way, I should mention for anyone who's new to Total Recorder -- DO NOT PUSH "PAUSE" DURING RECORDING -- In the old days, I'd push "pause" when they cut to commercial and "pause" again when they came back -- I found out the hard way that Total Recorder loses information when you do this -- I.E.: a show that should've been 1 hour and 30 minutes would end up being about 45 minutes.

Okay, everything's fine now. Puck on the DC hub showed me how to open the 91X window IN Total Recorder, and I've had no problems with the past two shows.

Now, that doesn't mean that TR doesn't still NEED a reconnect feature, but for the moment I've got a much stabler means of taping the show, so I guess I can wait until they get off their lethargic asses and whip one out.

Steve- I don't hit pause, I don't hit anything. Usually, I won't be here when it tapes, which is why I'm so worried about the disconnecting! I take the commercials out and mp3 it later. But I will keep that in mind, should I ever be tempted to pause the thing.

Thanks Steve, and thanks Puck and Kevin. Now I can do what you've been doing for years. ;)

Hey, you're welcome! -- By the way, doesn't it seem like media player only drops the stream when you're not watching over it? -- I can go through two months of perfect streaming while I'm overseeing it, but the first night I leave it alone for 20 minutes, I come back to find 19 minutes of dead air. But still, it's goodtimes though, right?
