Monday, July 26, 2004 at 5:59 AM About 5 years ago a caller asked Dr Drew what the point of Loveline was (I think they were doing a term paper). He told them that studies had shown that when medical information was packaged with humor, it was better received. In those days, Adam served as a way for Dr. Drew to get his message about staying healthy through to kids who had been turned off by the "system." Boy have we come a long way from those days...the Adam Carolla show featuring his pal and sometime lover, Dr. Drew. On another topic, has anyone noticed that the opening for every show contains the disclaimer "Loveline is meant for an adult audience." Huh? Yep, the demographics of the CALLER are completely different from the demographics of the LISTENER. OK, so I guess in its purest form, Loveline exists to educate the caller, appeal to the voyeurism of the listener and inflate the ego of its co-host? Sorry, I'm feeling cranky this morning...it'll pass--hope it's not the "best of" tonight! —Seattle Guy |

Monday, July 26, 2004 at 3:10 PM Quit embarrassing Seattle. Dr Drew and Adam have taught millions of people a whole lot of stuff that people just don't talk about on other forums. If you feel you've nothing left to learn from it, or that it isn't entertaining anymore, that's fine. But most people here are working to preserve the show. —Nick Evil |

Monday, July 26, 2004 at 4:45 PM They said it was not going to be a best of show tonight. Also, I also think the show opening is somewhat ironic, but it's just a legal thing... —puck71 |

Sunday, August 1, 2004 at 6:37 AM What has always given ME a chuckle about the opening of the show is that it says "Loveline may contain sexually-oriented content." "May?" "MAY?" Not a sermon, just a thought...Uh, I mean, not a complaint, just an observation. —Dusty TheHick |

Monday, August 2, 2004 at 12:02 PM I've been listening to the show since I was twelve, and now I'm 18...I've learned more from the show than from anywhere else. And I believe you may be misusing the term jaded. Jaded (adj): fatigued by overwork; dulled by surfeit or excess. Sorry, I'm an English major... —Aj |

Monday, August 2, 2004 at 1:53 PM Well, they say "May" only because Adam may decide to not take any calls that night! :-P —Nosuchsoul |

Monday, August 2, 2004 at 3:11 PM Well, "jaded" can also be: adj. Cynically or pretentiously callous. --which applies in Seattle Guy's case. (I knew that I was an art major) I also love the "may" part of the opening. As well, the show may have changed or shifted focus a bit, but that's not a bad thing. Frankly, after all these years of listening, I enjoy hearing Adam and Drew just bullshitting about various things more than the calls themselves anymore. I may be JADED too, but it seems like the calls/callers are getting worse and worse. Listening to some older shows seems to prove this a bit as well.

Friday, August 6, 2004 at 7:15 PM Edited Friday, August 6, 2004 at 7:16 PM NoSuch: True enough, but even if Adam just spent the whole show ranting, I think that sooner or later he would mention SOMETHING remotely sexual. Logo: I too enjoy the bullshitting of Adam and Drew more than the a actual calls nowadays, but it's more because they mostly get questions that they (and I) have heard before, and their answers are no longer new information to me. —Dusty TheHick |
