The Tranny show (6/15/04)

I'm suprised there hasn't been a discussion of the tranny show yet. I thought it was a joke when Adam said "Now I'm going to kick our guests out of the studio...." (although it was odd for a that type of guest to only be in for the first hour), but then they came back and Adam said he had an assful of tran-sexual issues and was creeped out.

Personally I thought the show was very interesting. Adam seemed on relativly good behavior considering his views on the subject, but there was a little tension with the Renee the transexual and the doctor just seemed to want to plug the movie. Drew seemed to get a little jumpy near the end of the hour. When they asked about legal issues with things like joining the military and the guest said "There's a lot of ignorance", Drew barked "Nevermind the commentary, let's stick to the facts." I wonder what went down during the commercial breaks.

Everyone on the show sounded pretty uncomfortable, and I didn't enjoy listening. I was glad to see the guests gone after the first hour.

Yeah, you could tell tensions were rising when Adam said, "What's with you Rene? -- You seem angry -- Are you angry?" When they left, I felt the same way I felt when the Darkness left. I also thought it was funny when Adam was doing promos and said, "On tomorrow night's show: David Allen Grier... that'll be a much different show from tonight's show."

I missed some of the beginning. I think the guests we're already scheduled to leave after the first hour, Adam's "kicking them out" remark was just a joke. There WAS tension though, and it did get uncomfortable, but that made listening all the more interesting to me. As we know, Rene is just plain fucking crazy, but Adam seemed to be trying to stay nice to it. I mean, as they would say, Rene just didn't track well AT ALL.

I'm listening to it right now, and 20 minutes into it I am anxious for it to end. Rene just doesn't have an engaging enough personality to make this subject interesting. I'm thinking of that guy who wrote a book about not having enough testosterone---that was another subject I really didn't care about, but he was interesting and pleasant so I ended up listening and learning. But yeah, good times.

I just listened to the show to verify and Adam did say (after they came back for the second hour) "....we were going to keep them for longer, but I've just had an assful of gender reassignment, and I'm ready to move on....It was too weird..it's too weird in here, I couldn't take it anymore."

Also, Drew seemed very eager to move on with a caller and afraid Adam was going to say something offensive about the guests.

I definitely picked up on the tension, but didn't find it as uncomfortable as some here (probably because I was out jogging listening to the mp3 so my attention wasn't entirely on the show). I was mostly waiting for Adam to go into his "I'm an amputee born into a whole body, somebody cut off my arm!" rant.

Renee was a little too bitchy, I think. I was more interested in the stuff that the doctor that shares a first name with Dr. Bruce. Like what he was saying about females with XY chromosomes and stuff...

Oh, and did you notice how that doctor related to Renee when they talked? It reminded me of a parent and a child, or an owner and a pet.

sheman: "i was alot more dissapointed before the surgery, because i had to use a dildo"

adam: "so can you have sex now that you've had the operation"

sheman: "no"

just your average, typical guy problems...

adam should have done the entire first hour as chief thunderbear

Thanks for the picture. That really puts a face on such a bizarre hour of radio. I have no problems with trannies etc but I thought she was real dull on the air. I was so glad when they booted them out for the 2nd hour. I would've turned off the radio if they hadn't..

And his face looks like a normal dude but the lack of armhair gives it away.

I, for one, DID turn the radio off after about 5 minutes into it! Well, I forgot it was 10 so I finally remembered around 10:17 and turned it on and I lasted until the break, and then I said F it! That was so annoying...

wmansir,
I was thinking the same thing about the show. The whole time I had my fingers crossed for adam's amputee rant. I would of loved to hear the heshe try and argue against adam.

The voice is the giveaway for all trans-sexuals. The whole time it sounded like the guest Renee was a 40+ hillbilly woman.
When medicine manages to manipulate vocal cords and bone structures then trans-sexuals will look convincing with their clothes on. Then it's just a matter of genital manipulation. I think that a cure for baldness/ ability to manipulate women's breasts without surgery will come along before anyone cracks seamless genital manipulation. Very complicated stuff.

I did research specifically into the voice aspect of gender reassignment surgery, and there are voice therapists who work solely with these kinds of people. There are methods used that produce very, very convincing results both for males and females. You're right, though, Rene sounded like a female Tom Waits.

Or like someone shoved a bottle brush down her throat.

But I repeat myself.
