Edited Friday, June 4, 2004 at 2:12 AM It is the 60th anniversary of D-Day and Bush is also in Italy this week. I wonder how this clogged any of Adam's vacation plans. I don't really want anyone hurt however a couple mafiosos kicking the crap out of cousin Sal is fine with me. I don't like the idea of the back-of-the-classroom fuckups representing the US anywhere. Europe has existed with borders maintaining individual cultures. The US is a melting pot. People don't comprehend the necessity to respect and make an effort to adapt to another culture. We can't go around trampling on their turf like we trample on wildlands in Yellowstone or Yosemite. When the bears come out the rangers will shoot them if required to protect tourists regardless of whether they violated the bear's habitat. Americans (US) ought to know enough of the language and culture so they can get around without expecting to be taken care of. We are the foreigners when going out of the US. Don't force anyone to accept your presence. We ought to be gracious, blend in and stay out of the way. Don't take your party to them. You are there to observe and experience their values and valuables. Unless we have seen a whole lot of character playing, I seriously doubt these sarcastic clowns are going over there with humility. —Adam's Crows |
