Just curious how much people on this forum have got. I'll go first: BA in Political Science, Yale class of '74. MA in Public Policy from UCLA. Worked for Massachusetts state government. Retired early on disability, moved to West Coast, lots of free time on hands, Loveline listener since '94.

Yes, being a leech on society makes me feel so inferior.

For those that don't know, receiving disability payments is basically like being on welfare, especially if you weren't doing genuine physical work, which means one is taking advantage of the system. (If you're background is to be believed, carrying some state representative's luggage is the most physical job you could've done)

I'm no expert on the subject, but you can get more depending on where you live, and the state of California is notoriously generous.

(Oh yeah, a Masters in Public Policy is the equivalent of a community college degree of post-graduate work. Very lax standards.)

Yale to UCLA, you say? This excuse to brag or lie does nothing to elevate your position from loser. Don't you have something you can do with that background besides sit on your ass listening to the radio trying to impress people on an internet forum? Is the disability between your ears?

It's ass-puppets like you that push moderates to vote Democratic. I just call them as I see them. When I see hypocrisy from the left, I call them. When I see idiotic statements from the right, I call them.

Are you a has been, or worse, are you idealizing your past? Can you still use that brain that got you to Yale? Who cares what our backgrounds are anyway? Our posts speak for themselves. You've got 19 years on me, and I'm not finished with my schooling. I've got a future. Yours seems dismal and rather sad. I would hope that I'm not in my 30s, let alone my 40s, fixiated on porn that utilizes vegetables.

But don't you think it hyprocritical to take advantage of the system that you don't like because oh-so-hated liberals created it? I'm suprised such a well-schooled person like yourself doesn't see the hypocrisy. For someone that likes to put labels on others, I thought you would be beholden to your ideology? I know it's difficult to think for yourself at times, but in difficult situations, ask yourself, "What Would George W. Do?"

I think we have a conservative elitist sploser on our hands. But I wouldn't be shouting about a Yale degree when George W. Bush got in there with a "C" average from a elite private school. Everyone knows that if you go to one of those elite private schools, it creates connections that gives one a leg up on those who go to public schools.

If you aren't ashamed, why don't you just go ahead and tell us already, instead of dancing around the issue?

Besides, I'm not the one who put up the veggie porn pic, or slobbered all over it. That must have been YOUR contribution to this scintillating discussion!

And remember to vote for George in November! He's a REAL American! (Not a traitor!)

I'm working at a subsidiary of a Native corporation as a contract supervisor and taking classes towards a masters program in clinical psych.

But guess what, it doesn't matter, becasue most any reasonable person here can pretty much guage that you're not only just an ass, but a hyprocritical ass. On behalf of reasonable people, I say thank God above that you are too much of a sploser to breed.

Thanks for finally putting your cards on the table, GDG. I guess that shows some guts, especially when your hand is not all that impressive. However, I feel compelled to point out that U of O (as you so quaintly call it) is not a particularly distinguished "university". It's not even up to UC Santa Barbara level. And we all know that a degree in psychology, especially at a jerkwater school, isn't very hard to get. But it probably makes you more qualified than 98% of the rest of the people on this forum to make statements about Loveline related issues. So, okay, I accept your right to talk to me on certain limited issues. Just don't think you can get away with pulling your credentials out to impress ME, that's all.

It's not where you've been, but where you are at, and where you're going. Meanwhile, you seem to live a sick sad life.

I didn't list where I got accepted to, but I wasn't born into a lot of money or connections. (Nor do I suffer from the lack of ethics to get disability from a deskjob.) I got into some good schools back East, plus two different UC schools, one of them UCSB the other UCSD. But going to a UC school from out of state is like paying for a private school, but not getting the benefits.

You're an elitist pig. Like Drew has said before, the East coast people are more fixated on the schools, elsewhere no one seems to care as much. The only reason why you started this thread was to brag about your background. Since you don't seem to have much to brag about in your life, I'll have to assume it is true. But even with that stellar educational background, you can't get a decent-paying job anymore. (although defense contractors are looking for interrogators over for Afghanistan and Iraq. Why not apply for that? Or did you also get out of serving in the Vietnam war as well? Chickenhawk.)

If I look for work, I lose my benefits and all that's available is scut work that pays hardly more than minimum wage with no benefits at all. Then I'd soon be out on the street. So don't blame me. Blame the screwed up system that fake liberals like you set up. If I could keep my benefits while working, I'd gladly do it. -sick fuck

"Like Drew has said" "Like Drew has said" What's Drew, your fucking oracle or something? Grow up and learn to think for yourself!

I had to come back one last time before hitting the sack, as I KNEW my old friend would have yet another pitiful justification to make.

I see you're back to your old tricks and making vague references, this time to certain "prestigious" schools "back east" that actually stooped to accepting you. (Yeah, schools so prestigious you're afraid to mention them!) Wow, you actually got accepted to UC but turned them down because of the tuition? Uh huh. A likely story.

I'm no snob. I went to UCLA because I'd already proved myself as an undergraduate and didn't need to go on with Yale. I wanted to mingle with the ordinary folk who attend a public university, and I don't regret the experience one bit. (See, I'm not some coddled dick with a silver spoon in my mouth!)

FYI, my disability came from a fractured skull received in an auto accident while driving on government business. The pain and dizziness often leaves me bedridden. But I'm still quite attractive for my age, and my conversational skills (which I suspect you sorely lack) enable me to lead quite an active love life and social schedule. So don't pity ME, my friend. I'm doing very well indeed socially.

And FWIW, I would happily have volunteered for Vietnam if my family hadn't insisted on my following tradition and completing university first before going on to OCS. By the time I graduated the war was over. Somehow, though, I seriously doubt YOU would have served or put your precious public university self in harm's way for ANYTHING remotely patriotic!

Colgate, Washington University, Univ of Rochester, and then the UCs. You're out of touch with the rapid increase of tuition during the 90s if you think the out of state prices for the UC schools were reasonable. In retrospect applying to them was a mistake.

I've never been big into the military, although if I wanted I could've easily gone to the Air Force Academy. Like I said, I've been around the military a lot (my father served most of his working life) but never really took to that culture. Just like I could never get along with elitist Ivy League pigs like yourself. But it seems that you're way into it, and never served the country despite your very strong stances that are easy to emote behind a little computer screen.

Finally, if you had a life, you wouldn't have posted so much blather on this board. I haven't had the time to post hardly as much as you. But you seem to have plenty on your sorry hands.

You then make fun of a 28 year-old posting here, when you claim you're 47. You hate liberals, but are depending on the gov't to sustain yourself. You move to a state where the disability benefits are very generous.

At least I've got an excuse to be posting here (my disability, which you seem to find amusing), because I'm sometimes bedridden. "Afraid" ...that is your own paranoia slipping out. Why would you think I was afraid? If it meant that much to me I could make up something if I felt my background was inadequate. I did not attend a university. I have a plain old associates degree. And where has your background brought you? Right here with me and the rest of us here on this forum. THAT is what little difference it makes. Why you needed to proclaim your credentials to everyone by openning a thread reflects on your feelings that you can't interact relying on your wits alone. You need people to see you through your background because deep inside you feel you are not able to present yourself and garner respect any other way. Well, it backfired. As it probably always does for you. If you can step down from the ivory tower I will still be your friend. I can set everything aside and take people for their present state of mind at a given moment. We all have troubles. We are all equal. :-)

Yikes, that was quite a tirade! I'm sorry that GDG managed to get the Eli all fired up! "Sick Fuck" is not the only Ivy credentialed listener; I graduated from Harvard College (Go Crimson Crazies!!!) and am almost finished with a law degree from another East Coast school. I took a class at Yale and, while the teaching was absolutely top-notch and the campus beautiful, New Haven is quite possibly the worst place on earth. If you step one block off the campus, you are asking to be mugged. And there were plenty of elitist snobs, although Cambridge also has a fair number to their credit, as well. My view on those who are privileged enough to go to such fine schools is that they have a moral and societal obligation to use their skills to make the world better. Call me an idealist, but if you have the benefit of the best education in the country, you should put it to use. I am sorry that you were involved in what was obviously a very awful accident, but if you are capable of socializing, you could probably at least do something. Maybe work up on Beacon Hill in a policy group or something? Or even be a writer for a political magazine? Anything is better than sitting idle and letting you obviously powerful brain go to waste...

There's also a deeper reason: I am using it to express the darker impulses that any deeply complex personality would possess and occasionally need to exercise in order to remain spiritually and psychically healthy. (I didn't capitalize the intial letters of this moniker for the same reason I did graduate work at a public university: to show that I can relate to the common folk.)

Since we are conversing over the internet I can't really show you my Yale diploma or anything, but it should be obvious from my wit and erudition that I am extremely well educated and have associated with some of the sharpest minds alive. Somehow acting like an idiot is more acceptible on the internet because people have come to expect such irrational behavior. Without the internet you would be on the street, in a bar or at a coffee shop arguing with people. In those environments your illness would be even more obvious. The inappropriate behavior you need to express shows you are psychotic and a sociopath. It isn't a matter of healthy expression.

I bet you broke your back during anal.

I hope sick fuck comes back one day to answer my question.

Disability doesn't mean you were injured on the job.

(Oh yeah, a Masters in Public Policy is the equivalent of a community college degree of post-graduate work. Very lax standards.)

It was fun reading this thread, seeing him dis public policy, and then say "I'm working towards a Masters in clinical psych," at the U of O, but psych programs are a dime a dozen and they tend to take any warm body. Funny stuff.

Clinical Psych is actually pretty hard to get into. UNC gets something like 400 applications for just 3 slots every year, and most schools are similarly competitive.

Lena,

He claimed to have gotten a fractured skull in a car crash:

FYI, my disability came from a fractured skull received in an auto accident while driving on government business. The pain and dizziness often leaves me bedridden. - sick fuck

Also, you're not going to work at a Popeye's Chicken, you're going to work as a model who stands in front of lowriders at car shows, to try to get former OX guys to be into you.

He definitely meant "is anyone here still in high school."

>>Wait, stefanie dropped out? Goddamn it stef, what the fuck is that all about?

She "had a low gpa." She was supposed to graduate in '06, but now she's getting her GED and planning to go to community college.

UNC is competitive, but they are a doctoral program and most doctoral programs are competitive. He was "taking classes" (which could mean anything) towards a Masters in clinical psych which are much easier to get. You can even get one online from the prestigious University of Phoenix.
