Has anyone else noticed that JKL isn't running live on the East Coast anymore? The "recorded tonight" graphic has been appearing at the top of the show for about two weeks now. It's almost undoubtedly FCC related, since the censors have been going wild on the button, even bleeping the word "bejezus." Maybe it's a concession they made to skittish affiliates like the station in Syracuse. Gonna have to change the name of the show to "Jimmy Kimmel Recently Taped" or something.

The taping is only an hour earlier than when it was normally done.

I think thats why they switched the direction that Jimmy walks in from, if he came from the traditional direction we would see the still-lit sky... Hopefully they go back to "Live" at some point, since it just doesn't seem right otherwise.

Maybe Daylight Savings Time has something to do with the camera angle so it isn't pointed directly at the sun.

Wow, it seemed like Drew was kinda stuck-up on Kimmel. Im not sure what it was, he just seemed really full of himself.

Also, the abortion joke really took me by surprise, and coming from Drew seemed inappropriate.

Maybe because they were taping with a delay because of the FCC attention they realized they could use more time for those debatable edits. Adam has had to race over to Loveline when guesting so they could have decided they could start earlier and buy some time for Adam also. ?

Drew's appearance: The abortion joke seemed to come from nervousness. He was just trying to relax and be an interesting guest. Worse than Drew was Kimmel's pre-scripted tasteless jokes about Jack Osbourne getting the twins pregnant that lead to Drew's performing the the abortion joke and Adam's molestation scenes supposedly removed from the movie. All in bad taste and unfunny. We suffered yet another awkward Uncle Frank sequence this time mixing up his 500 scores with the Olsen twins and Drew's own family. Are these guys that stupid with all the FCC crap going on?

I'm pretty sure the censors at ABC know what the FCC will allow far better than you do.

On the East Coast did they bleep Cleto in the beginning when Kimmel said something and Cleto said "Oh ________"? It seemd odd that he'd say something worth bleeping. It was right before the bleeps for no reason video. I forget exactly what the set up was, but if anyone remembers whether Cleto (the band leader) was bleeped in the beginning or not, I'd like to know. I'm thinking he said Oh Fudge and they bleeped Fudge!!!!

The whole show was riddled with bad taste and stupidity. I'm getting sick of people thinking they are pushing the envelope showing the irony in what is allowed vs censored. But the material is actually just bad writing, tasteless and thoughtless nonsense.

The Clito thing was probably just a preview of what was to come in the senseless censoring bit.

I though whoever that girl who came on before drew was pretty annoying....Drew was fine. He looked like he wasn't completely comfortable, but trying to appear as natural as possible. I actually thought the abortion joke was funny, but it does seem like drew plays to the camera too much, especially when he asked about Frank's sex life and started smirking in the camera.
But really, I think we're being too harsh, only a tiny minority of people can appear comfortable in front of a camera and a large studio audience. On top of that, there's the pressure of being articulate and entertaining. I know I'd fuck it up royally if I ever had to do something like that.

On that very show jimmy said they were doing it for only the week as a random censoring thing. Hopefully it will be back live again soon. I laughed hard at that abortion joke, come on, it was funny. I used to be a Letterman fan through and through but now i fnd myself watching kimmel more often. Weird.

I dig Letterman, but I never really was a fan of him or Leno. But, I was a huge Conan fan. Especially in the Andy Richter days, but I tried hard to keep with it after he left. But, as soon as Kimmel came on the air, I got hooked. His show is fresh every night, with the funny clips from local news, etc. At first the interviews and guest hosts every week were funny too, but when they had Kermit the Frog as a guesthost I think they realized they seriously were in trouble. And, a few weeks later...Bam no more guest hosts. I still think the show's real funny, however I find myself fastforwarding the Tivo a lot more. Basiclaly, I watch the opening and the "monologue", and then most times i fastforward the male guest, then I watch the bit in the middle, be it cousin sal or uncle frank or whatever, then I have to fastforward the boring female guest, and then if theres a comedian I'll check him out but 99% of his music acts suck hard. I like the hiphop guests and Richard Cheese, and Future Talent Showcase is funny sometimes but sucks more times than not.

Overall though, I absolutely Tivo it every night and I think it's by far the best late show ever. I will be upset if it goes off the air and I'll go back to never watching ABC.

I really like the unnecessary bleeping bit, but Cleto was not part of it. If he said Jesus and or Christ though, ABC definitely bleeped it. But the bit thing was separate...And funny as always. My favorite one still though is when they bleeped John Kerry talking about "googling" himself.

I personally have no doubt that Kimmel does the best "monologue" in late night. As for guests, they seem to be an annoying yet mandatory part of late night shows. Most of them do suck - but Jimmy is often quick witted and can make even the bad ones funny part of the time. I definately don't tune in for the musical acts.
