series vs. parallel circuits

There was a caller tonight who tried to "stump" Adam. He began with some idiotic question about metal framed houses and "what to watch out for." That was dumb.
But then he asked Adam if houses are wired in series or in parallel. Of course houses are wired in parallel so that if you turn off one light, then all the lights won't turn off. However, Adam didn't even know what he was talking about. I am very disappointed that Adam doesn't know the difference between a circuit that is wired in series vs. in parallel. That is such a basic circuit question, that it's shameful that adam didn't know the answer. Not only that, but Adam didn't even know what circuits in series and in parallel meant!
I have lost a certain amount of respect for Adam tonight. Not only did he not know basic concepts, but he dismissed what he did not know very callously.

I suppose it is a little disappointing but keep in mind that he was probably never acquainted with the bane of series circuits: Christmas lights.

Adam was a carpet cleaner and a construction worker, not an electrician. Two completely separate occupations.

I would have expected him to know that. Series/Parallel is pretty basic electrical theory.

I was pretty surprised Adam didn't know the answer on this one either. Like NJC mentioned, it's basic electrical stuff. Pennington's lack of knowledge wasn't a huge disappointment; he's 23% ability and 77% viewer appeal. Not that there's anything wrong with that ...

But to take this off-topic as all good threads are wont to be, what's the deal with guests leaving early??

Used to be they left after the first hour, now they leave after the first break in the second! What the hell is so tough about a two hour radio talk show commitment? Sure they don't get paid, but it's national exposure and the bars are still open for another two hours after the show ends.

You need to shake your ass people, but not like this.

Yeah, that was a disappointment, that's VERY basic question, even if it doesn't have to do with carpets. I guess this is how he "never" gets stumped.

No, I thought the caller said tangent circuits not parrallel/series. Adam did not even try to answer it he was mad that the callers couldn't give him a good question.

Ima listen to it agian today see exactly wat it was.

No I'm pretty sure he said parallel, but then he tried to explain it to Adam (poorly) that each wire goes off on a "tangent" from the main wiring and adam declared the question unfair and that was the end of it. I would think that adam would know the difference between series/parallel circuits, but I guess not, anyways... good times

no, the way the guy worded the question was just retarded. It was like that one episode where adam was alone and a caller asked if kneeling at the toliet seat was normal, but then he said crouching and some other term. Come on, what's more likely, Adam didn't know a basic question like that or the callers are retards, I wonder.
