Tuesday, March 9, 2004 at 12:54 PM A couple days ago, the boys were talking about people they like/disliked who were on the show. So I began wondering who has never been on that I would like to see on. So I thought i'd pose this question to everyone. A couple I thought of were: Will Ferrell, Metallica, and Bill O'Reilly just to hear Adam go nuts. —golfrboy1 |

Tuesday, March 9, 2004 at 1:32 PM Edited Tuesday, March 9, 2004 at 1:34 PM Great question!! I was thinking of this same thing last night, and I have a few idea's for quality guests... Dennis Miller- I know his new show isnt all that great, but I think if they could get Adam and Dennis in the same room, something great will happen... they might have to shut Drew's mic off so they have more time to rant... Jeff Bridges- I've heard him speak about the End Hunger Network, and he was a great guest, has alot to say, and if you have not seen "The Big Lebowski" go rent it right now. Kevin Smith- I know he was on with his wife, and that was a great show, but come on, they need him back. Its always a interesting conversation with smitty. Norm MacDonald- Just because he has no idea when to stop, and I think it would be a show with alot of rambling. Tim Allen- Only so Adam and him could spend the ENTIRE two hours talking about carpentry crap and ignore the callers! Tom Waits- Jesus, could you imagine the stories that man could tell, also, he has the perfect voice for radio. If you dont know Tom Waits, get off you ass and get his music, incredible range. Medeski Martin and Wood- This is a personal favorite. MMW is a great jazz band thats been around about 12 years or so, hard to explain the music, but if anyone else knows who MMW is, congratulations, you have found one of the best groups around, now go see them live!!! and Finally: Bill Hicks- This one might be hard. Seeing as how its coming up on TEN YEAR mark on his death. Again, if your living under a rock and have not heard the genius that is Bill, please PLEASE go get some of his work. The man was one of the smartest, funniest people to ever grace this earth. Bill Hicks - Another Dead American Hero. thats all I can think of right now, so Ann, get to work!

Tuesday, March 9, 2004 at 2:06 PM Edited Tuesday, March 9, 2004 at 2:43 PM Can't believe I forgot this one: Henry Rollins. Hank has been been on several times in the past, but he's on the road, doing a new show, so he's got something to plug. The last time he was on the show, he was in NY and about to fall asleep, so we didnt get the treat that Henry is when he's awake and angry. I went to see his spoken word tour twice last month, and it was such a great show. The man talked for 3 hours and 20 minutes WITHOUT a single break, even to take a drink! He had almost entirly diffrent shows in Madison and Milwaukee, so seeing him twice in a week was nice. If anyone is interested in seeing him live, and you should be, check out this list of upcoming shows March 10 - Colorado Springs, CO - Pikes Peak Center March 11 - Grand Junction, CO - Avalon Theatre March 13 - Boise, ID - The Big Easy March 14 - Seattle, WA - Moore Theatre March 15 - Spokane, WA - Met Theatre March 17 - Portland, OR - Schnitzer Concert Hall March 19 - Santa Cruz, CA - Rio Theatre March 20 - Davis, CA - Freeborn Hall UC Davis March 18 - Eugene, OR - McDonald Theater March 21 - San Francisco, CA - Warfield March 22 - Vancouver, Canada - Vogue Theater March 23 - Calgary, Canada - MacEwan Hall March 24 - Edmonton, Canada / Francis Winspear Centre March 26 - Winnipeg, Canada / Burton Cummings Theatre March 30 - London, Ontario, Canada - Centennial Hall Also, this just in, If you would like to see a great jazz show in the state of cali, check out these up coming dates for Medeski Martin and Wood! 4/15-17 Seattle, WA - Tractor Tavern 4/19 Arcata, CA - Arcata Community Center 4/20-22 San Francisco, CA - Cafe Du Nord 4/23-24 Los Angeles, CA - Roxy Tix are on sale now, hope you can go and enjoy! —illyB |

Tuesday, March 9, 2004 at 2:57 PM Well, golfr, I cant help with Henry, although I do believe he came to Chicago on this tour, but I do have good news if you like Jazz or funk or jam bands. The Three Sisters Summercamp Fest is having Medesk Martin and Wood as one of the bands. Its right next door to you in Chillicothe, IL. The tix are alittle pricy, but I assume thats for the whole days of shows. If you have the time and money, you should check it out, I've seen them live 9 times, and everyone has been worth the trip! Alright, enough off topic ranting..... —illyB |

I'm not saying have every rapper, but for instance Ludacris used to be a radio DJ and he's all about chicks so I'm sure he has some funny stories and will talk plenty. —dr ipod |

Tuesday, March 9, 2004 at 11:51 PM There really doesn't seem to be a high proportion of comedian guests, probably due to Adam's belief that all comedians hate each other, so they may not fit with Adam as well as the generic actors/musicians (theoretically) do... I wouldn't mind seeing some of my favorite comedians guesting - but I guess what it comes down to is producer Ann's discretion and who says yes/no when the offer comes through. —Kevin U. |

Wednesday, March 10, 2004 at 4:39 PM Wow, jak, you sound pissed at what I said. You do realize that you dont have to look into anything i say, or for that matter, even read what i write, so why all the hostility ? IF YOU DONT LIKE WHAT I SAY DONT READ IT, very simple. However, I have found out about some great artist this way, someone says "hey, i liked this, you might too" and if I dont like it, no big deal. Its people like you that would have us all listening to the new Nickelback album and watching Friends like every brain dead American. How about instead of wasting your time bashing anyone that has an opinion that differs from yours, you get off your ass and find something that inspires you, like kicking blowhards in the nuts..... —illyB |

Wednesday, March 10, 2004 at 5:34 PM all right illyB, I thought it was impossible but you have sunk yourself again. "IF YOU DON'T LIKE WHAT I SAY DON'T READ IT." Sorry, can't do it, I read this forum daily and read everybody's opinion - on last night's guest, Drew, Adam, etc. and then...whoah...I've got to go get Tom Waits latest album??? "hey I liked this, you might too..." would require some modicum of thought towards commonality. Like, "hey if you like Loveline - maybe you'll like Stern." Not "If you like Anderson's drops, you'll definitely want to check out these tour dates for Medeski Martin and Wood." The music of Tom Waits is obscure in that it will appeal to only a subset of Loveline Forum participants / listeners to the show. He's never been a guest on the show. To my knowledge neither Adam, Drew nor a caller has ever woven a Tom Waits reference into the fabric of the show. Medeski Martin and Wood? Bill Hicks? I've been under a rock because I've never heard of Bill Hicks??? Hold still illyB I'm taking a running start. —jak |

Wednesday, March 10, 2004 at 6:59 PM Edited Wednesday, March 10, 2004 at 7:17 PM Hey, im not forcing anyone to read what i write or listen to any music i enjoy, it was just a suggestion. All I wanted to do was maybe turn someone on to something that would enrich their lives, like someone did for me. I would have missed out on some great people's work, and believe it or not, I didnt always know about LoveLive, until someone was cool enough to say something, then I tuned in and found out I love the show... and i do love this show, but not so much as to think i've found the Holy Grail of entertainment, and i should shit on anyone that thinks there is more out there to find... sorry if i offended anyone by posting tour dates or recommending some music.... maybe Silent Virgin can delete them, so you'll have nothing but loveline related material here... Oh, and btw,Jak, what about the "Rank the Radio Shows" post where you selfishly MADE me read about other radio shows that you LIKE..... talk about the fucking pot and kettle..... —illyB |
