Monday, March 8, 2004 at 11:22 PM (I assume you're asking me. :-) Yeah, I have MP3 recordings corresponding to every transcript on this site (with the exception of the KJEE transcript, which was contributed by a generous person in Santa Barbara). It would be very hard to transcribe in real time, without a recording :-) As to the question of what becomes a transcript... this is actually difficult to answer. Originally, the site was "maxed out": there was 200MB of web space which was 100% full, so if I wanted to add anything, it had to be a transcript. For this same reason, anything that was kinda long became a transcript. Now there is more space, but it is still finite, of course. It's kinda subjective and nebulous now. I guess the rule now is, anything added to the Journal which doesn't fit into one of the existing Sound categories becomes a transcript. For example, I just added a rather long transcript to the Journal. I found this segment of the show interesting because it reveals personal details about Drew's life (the "tabloid factor", if you will), and while I have the audio clip, I don't think the audio would fit very well into the audio section. —Silent Virgin |
