Just when Adam thought you didn't hear about cars backfiring anymore, this incident rears its ugly head ...
Man arrested after backfire incident
One man was arrested and another was cited in connection with a prank early Sunday morning several area residents didn't find funny.
County Sheriff's deputies arrested Charles Sights Jr. on suspicion of public intoxication after a car registered to him was seen leaving an area near Plurryho Way and Frope Drive about 2:45 a.m. Sunday. About 20 residents told officers they heard gunshots before the car left, they said.
Officers then stopped the white Chevy - which was carrying Sights and six others - on northbound Creutzfeldt Road, where they determined the car's occupants had been simulating gunfire by causing the car to backfire, they said.
Gregory Hammond, 21, who was driving the car, was cited for disturbing the peace.
Sights was taken to the County Jail.
