WAAF has cancelled Loveline. The following is a letter I have sent to the appropriate Entercom VP's...

Julie:

I am a 23 year old master's degree candidate in the counseling psychology program at a local graduate college. I am deeply disappointed in WAAF's decision to take Loveline off the air.

Unless and until WAAF reverses this decision, I will stop listening to WAAF entirely. This is a shame, as I have been listening to WAAF for 12 years now, and can remember the time when Greg Hill had to take a leave of absence to go to Iraq, in order to serve in the First Gulf War. I have listened to Ozone, Opie and Anthony, Rocko and Birdsey, and a host of other on-air personalities who have worked at your radio station.

When Loveline was brought to WAAF last spring, it became my all-time favorite radio program. After a long hard day of working with clients as a therapist-in-training over the past several months, Loveline has become a vicariously therapeutic medium in my own life. This means a lot to me. If Loveline is not available on any Boston-area radio station, I will purchase XM Satellite Radio in order to listen to the program.

Finally, I would ask that you terminate Mike Hsu.

Is Loveline actually on XM radio? I'm sure a number of people would like to know if it is.

What's up One Man Army.

The reason that I stated my educational credentials is simple: Last night at 9:55pm, 5 minutes before Loveline was scheduled to go on the air, Mike Hsu read a collection of angry emails from several various listeners, criticizing those listeners for their inability to spell and/or properly make use of grammar. ("If you could learn some grammar....that would be good.")

We need to clearly and unambiguously convey a strong and coherent message to the management of WAAF. Let's begin by writing intelligent and thoughtful letters to the powers that be; otherwise, our cause is hopeless.

again the question beckons...Loveline's on XM?

By the way, I have a feeling Opie and Anthony will be doing XM radio come July when their contract w/ Infinity is up.

Honestly, I'm not sure if Loveline is on XM Radio. When I wrote that letter, I just assumed that Loveline would be carried by one of the 150+ XM stations, but I probably should have confirmed this before sending the letter to Julie Kahn (jkahn@entercom.com), Keith Hastings (khastings@entercom.com), and Tom Baker (tbaker@entercom.com). I hope that it is, and maybe someone else can verify this.

Last time someone checked, Loveline was not carried by XM. It has also been requested by a few people around here, but if I recall correctly, XM responded that they most likely will not pick up the show due to its normal-radio-station format with commercials, a specific timeslot, etc.
