MOJO 730 AM in Vancouver drops Loveline

Today's the last day for Loveline unfortunately in Vancouver. MOJO wants to go all sports now which is why Loveline got axed.
Anyone know any other stations in Vancouver that could pick it up?

Have you confirmed this? Where did you read/hear it?

no fucking way. You mean the same mojo radio that everyone listens to is dropping loveline? Maybe that holocaust replay pushed them over. My world is turning upside down.

I wouldn't be surprised if one of these days the only station that will carry Loveline is KROQ.

Bad times.

I haven't been able to find any proof of this, but I trust that Milkman heard it somewhere.
This is a major problem, as the only other real-time streaming station is XTRA, and they are late every night with the show by about 15-20m. I don't trust it, but I guess I'm gonna have to.
There are TONS of people DL'ing the current show from me and the mirror servers 24/7, and all the recent ones have been from mojo. I'll attempt to record from xtra tonight, unless I can confirm that mojo is still with us.
If anyone has more info or knows of another streams, please let me know!

These are the ones I know of that stream:

Hey bad news. I recorded from 91X last night (as it is the one I usually record from), and the radio was cool all the way up until time for Loveline to come on. I got nothing but silence in the whole two-hour recording, whereas it usually records just fine. I don't know if they are going to start dropping that from the stream or not, I'll try it again tonight and let ya know though.

From my experience with the XTRA 91X stream, the silence means they were playing something local (IIRC it's usually a taped baseball game or something) instead of Loveline. But when that happens, just check their site. At the top, it shows what they're playing.

Yeah, I know about the silence meaning that they are playing something local, but I skipped all over the file, and heard nothing. I may have just lost the stream, but it seems like it went out right when Loveline started. Like I said though, I'll try again tonight. By the way, thanks to the NJT servers, I was able to download the show this morning so I would have a recording of my call into Loveline last night. I can't say how much I appreciate that.

Even when they used to stream a long time ago, 91x was very hit and miss/choppy. Sad to see a quality stream go, but I won't miss the all the stupid "talk radio for guys" crap in between.

So we still have no real evidence that they (mojo) are in fact dropping it? I guess we'll have to wait and see...

I'm not going to be awake when the time comes. So if someone can record 91X or their local station if they don't air it tonight, please do so.

Thanks.

Unfortunately, MOJO Radio AM 730 has decided to switch to an all-sports format because of sagging ratings: less than 1% of total listeners at any given time. Yes, this means that we are dropping Loveline, as it obviously wouldn't conform to our new format. Because our contract with Westwood One has not yet expired, Loveline will not be available in the Vancouver area for at least a month. However, it is possible that Loveline could be switched to another station in the Corus network, which owns Mojo Radio. Our website is currently down for re-modelling into our new format. Stay tuned, I'll keep you posted.

Wow, that really, really sucks -- MOJO radio was the highest quality live stream out there. Although, I gotta admit, it was pretty cool of them to come here and tell us personally.

I really hope another station in Vancouver will pick it up! I'm from Vancouver and I was so happy when Loveline finally came here and I didn't have to listen to a fuzzy version of it from Seattle ;)

I agree with you that it was definitely cool that they came on here and said it personally (if that is the real 'Twitch' of course ;) )

I've begun recording the show from the broadcast airwaves on a one day delay from WAAF in Boston. Right now all I have from WAAF is the Feb 08 show, where Adam sings "Vehicle" by the Ides OF March, but TotalRecorder is set to record all the shows. I'll be sharing the shows on DC++ at NJC's Hub at 68.99.80.160:411

It has come to my attention that a POSSIBLE new home for Loveline is 99.3 CFOX FM Vancouver, owned by Corus Entertainment Inc. They have the target demographic, and quality live streaming audio. Also, they are owned by the same company that owns Mojo radio, so the contract could be passed on without further negotiations. However, please note:

1. This is only a possibility, and the suggestion is in no way official.
2. CFOX will only air it if it is shown that there is considerable interest not just from abroad but locally, as that is where most radio ads are targeted.
3. Don't get your hopes up. Although they do have a few snippets of talk show, their slogan, up until recently, was "Less Talk, More Rock!"
4. Canadian Radio is governed by the Canadian Broadcasting Standards Council, and Loveline has, on a few occasions, gone over the edge in their minds. There is no SAFE TIME for public broadcasting in Canada. Radio stations are eager to please the CBSC, their word is law.
5. Why am I talking to you people? Cuz i liked Loveline, too.

Curious: check out

yeah Twitch is awesome! I hope that CFOX rumour turns out to be true...But i have another dumb question for now: so Twitch, are you actually that British guy from the commericals or is that just an actor? ;) Either way, thanks for your help!

This proves my theory that Canadians are much nicer than everyone else on the planet.

By the way Sapphire -- I was wondering the same thing too. When I read Twitch's posts, I like to use a British accent. I also like to occasionally throw in a "bloody hell" for good measure.
