Does anyone have some decent upstream bandwidth and the ability to host an http or ftp server or even share on DC++?

I will send my nightly recordings to anyone who can do this. If you have good bandwidth but don't have/don't know how to set it up, let me know and I will help you.

As we all know, sources for downloading recent shows has become more limited as of late. In addition, certain affiliates around the nation have dropped the show. This has resulted in a huge demand for recorded shows. A demand that is not currently being met, at least not acceptably. I have 2 http servers running and about 90% of my bandwidth is going to people downloading. This is too much and cannot continue much longer!

My goal is to have at least 4 or 5 places where someone can get the past few shows.

**Also, if anyone usually just listens to the show and deletes it, or has no interest in keeping it once they hear it, should consider streaming it. You can just type or paste the http link right into Winamp and it will play it. This should work with Media Player and other software too. Doing this will also lighten the load on the servers.

You may contact me through this site or directly at loveline@njctech.com. Thanks.

If you're able to estimate how much space/bandwidth you require I could see if the 2 domains under my name could handle them [one is a .edu]...

I don't necessarily require a specific amount, but 256k or higher on the upstream would be nice. I'm just trying create more places where the files are avialable, in hopes that it will reduce the load on each one.

Your [.edu] sounds promising ;) Let me know.

NJC--I have no idea how to do this stuff but my school allows me 25 MB of webspace. I can create an website and post stuff if it is pretty easy to learn. You may post below or contact me at esnti2000@yahoo.com. I hope I can help and thanks so much for hosting shows. Your service is really appreciated.

NJC, if you dont already have an unrestricted account on my FTP I will set one up for you, if you would like. I have constant users and I'm sure they'd all appreciate your current shows, if they're not already there. Some users upload the current shows but I'm not positive how reliable that is, because I sort of listen to the shows randomly and dont always hear the recent ones. osmosis(at)shaw(dot)ca and I'll email you account info.

Some people have discovered the temp server i've set up, but lets try not to hammer it. If you hit it too many times in a given period you will be temporarily banned.

Hey College Kids - My advice would be to NOT host loveline episodes on your college provided webspace. Universities are getting increasly anal about this kind of stuff and are now starting to threaten things like suspension.

If you're willing to take the risk, thats admirable. But, you are waving a big red flag infront of people who are now starting to take an interest and have nothing better to do with their time.

Salem-

I peaked out at around 303 KB/Sec with my Cable Modem! It couldn't have taken more than two minutes to grab the whole thing. Sweet.

Yeah I totally get your point, but I have a difference... the UK don't really care about those things and I built the website that it runs off of, it's a high school website that's not on a state server [it's a deal between me and my former school see, I build them a nice website designed in a way so that teachers can update the site easily from anywhere, securely using my altered version of the Greymatter script without having to have any web design skills etc, they just need to know how to type etc.. and I get royalties when the template gets sold, which I have]... The server isn't state run, it's a private server by a reliable UK hosting company that I got my rector/principle to sign up for and neither the school or the hosting company object to copyrighted material [as anything on the server *must* be educational so there's the loopole..] I've been letting SimplySoCo.com and I even use it to host occasional files for my own domain of KevReilly.co.uk when I need fast speed... so it's totally fine to use basically... but tell me if you're interested!

Salem, I'm very interested. Email me : loveline@njctech.com

Set up an http server and an ftp server. You probably already have both, so set up a http site for people to access the files and give me a login w/ write access to the LL dir and I'll upload nightly to ya..

Thanks!
