kinda bored with the chit chat...

I gotta say, whenever someone like Jimmy or DAG or Kathy Griffin is on, the show kinda tends to drag on a bit too much cause they just end up shooting the breeze with their friends. Some incredibly funny bits do come out of these segments, but at the same time, they took maybe what, 3 calls in the last hour of the show once Jimmy got there tonight? Every once in awhile I wish there was somebody on the show who had a strong enough personality to rein Adam in just enough to keep the show moving.

And on another note, they REALLY need to pull some of those PSAs. Between the No Doubt, organ donation, and airplane turbulence ones....WOW those are bad!!!!

The more I listen the more these moments drag. If I have not listened for periods of time they do not bother me so much. The PSA's are different for each market. There are some really bad ones everywhere I am now certain. There is one with some guy with a rapper cadence that drives me nuts. I couldn't tell you what he is talking about I am so distracted by his preoccupation with his own enunciation.

At least is better than the damn AD Council PSA's thanks to Yahoo. That killed off some of my old Loveline streams. I cant stand Jeanne Garafalo and those ones.
I hear mostly ads for head shops and tattoo parlors and titty bars in Memphis during LL.

I hate the PSA's
The RAADD ones are the worst. What? Thy only have 3 of them? And, it's not the 'holiday season', so quit saying Happy Holidays. lol
Ahhh! And that damn one with the TV themes.

Actually, I prefer the chit chat to the calls more often than not.

I tune so out when the show is at commercial I never really hear the PSA's anymore.

Talking to newer loveline fans (on non loveline boards) and old ones it seems to me that the crazy questions and zany calls is what draws people in, and the chit chat with the hosts is what keeps people there.

But you're wrong about DAG, DAG motivates them to take a lot of calls. he sings through them, but he still calls for saving the babies. Remember when DAG substituted for Adam? They must have gone through 600 calls.

I've been listening to the show religiously for a good 5-6 years now, and I do remember that some of the goofier calls were definitely what drew me in. (I can still get reduced to helpless laughter anytime I hear even a hint of "What's my dad doing in Israel?") But even after all this time, for me at least the show is still more content driven rather than personality driven -- ie, I listen to hear them talk about people's problems and what they think about them, rather than Adam's rants. But hey, different strokes for different folks -- I saw people jumping for joy when Adam brought back the lighting round a few weeks ago, where I usually just turn the radio off when he starts that up. :)

I had not heard a lightening round so I downloaded this latest one and found out I am particularly annoyed with these styles of Adam's bits. I don't like the stripper DJ or the morning DJ bits either. They go on way too long and are not funny. But this is just not my favorite stuff. I love plenty of other Adam and Drew material though.

I can't remember what drew me in to the show. I think I got hooked on the calls, then I heard one of Adam's rants and thought it was hilarious, then I found out that he ranted a lot so I kept listening for that reason. I am not a big TV fan but I love movies, so the first time I ever watched the MTV show was when Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore hosted it as a promo for The Wedding Singer. Then I got hooked on the TV show and started taping it so I could watch it the next morning. But it was definitely Adam's rants that kept me listening. I hate the PSA's too, especially the RAAADD ones because we always get about 4 in a row, but mostly we get Trojan commercials. I don't really like the strip club dj either---it gets old FAST and he always goes on too long with it. I love when he does the Jimmy Eat World music, walking into a club...and here's the music that the girls hear. (cue the clown music)

But the chit chat---I do love it, I never get tired of it, yet if I fall asleep during the show I know I haven't really missed much because if it's a good rant it will be repeated often.

My favorite thing is the conversation at the beginning of the show. Unfortunately the local affiliate will step on it by starting the feed late. I like to hear what has happened during either of their days or in the news that is fresh on their minds. I like to hear Drew's events as much as Adam's. One thing that sometimes bothers me is when they will be talking about something with a guest that is interesting and Adam will stop everything and repeat a rant from square-one that I have already heard. The original flow of conversation and topic is forgotten when he is done. When you listen regularly you are going to get tired of some portion of the show once in awhile. My introduction to some classic ranting has been during such times so I can't complain.

I have not gotten over Ben Stein and Adam working on the panel as judges. Ben Stein said last year he did 40 shows at $10,000 a pop ($400,000) for 40 hours time and only a few minutes actual speaking time each hour.

Reminds me of mortgages. It appears like there are so many people between the buyer and the seller that seem merely to shuffle paper to the next guy between offices yet they are able to drive Mercedes and BMW's. The buyer works his ass off to qualify for a house and lives for the rest of his life with a mortgage. A bunch of people are getting commissions and charging fees for a single sale. Whoever designed that business was creative (diabolically?). I have not worked in that business and, like I said, it "appears" this way -they all may actually need to do what they do and earn that money for all I really know.

i love Adam's rants and the fact that they sometimes erupt out of nowhere. especially the social ones. reminds me of a great old movie (and one i highly recommend to those that love Adam's rants as well) "Network". look it up sometime, movies 30 years ago, and sadly has gone from satire to reality (oil money in control, media consolidation, reality shows as entertainment, etc.)
