Sunday, July 6, 2003 at 10:05 PM Do any of you hear ads during the show that make you want to just shut the radio off because they're so horrible? I've been hearing a really annoying Planned Parenthood ad airing on my local station...it's these two "teens" rapping about birth control. I guess it's the message that's important, but it is so obviously scripted and sooooo unoriginal. It's kind of like the psa with the 30 year old guys trying to sound like teenagers talking about how they shouldn't go to a party - they're playing basketball. Adam hates that ad. Anyway, I'm just wondering if their are any really annoying ads playing during the show around the USA. I hear so many ads for diamond stores...like the Shane Company...that annoying Tom Shane talking about how you have a friend in the diamond business. yuk. —Satan's Little Cupcake |

Sunday, July 6, 2003 at 10:15 PM I think everyone has this problem... ads in general are so horribly annoying, and like you say some of the ones during loveline can be especially annoying. Because of this I sometimes don't listen to the show while it is being aired, instead in a recording later. Some of the PSA's remind me of good Adam rants, so they are half bad, and they can be ammusing - but in general I avoid advertising as much as possible (as should everyone!). —Kevin U. |

Tuesday, July 8, 2003 at 4:34 PM I know what you mean . . . the commercials are so annoying that now I'm turning off the radio or switching to another station when they come on. My local station (91X in San Diego) plays the same few commercials over and over for weeks, and I've heard them so many times I could practically recite them . . . the ads for the Sprite Remix and Toyota Scion in particular. (I get those two mixed up because they both have these annoying rappers . . . ugh. :O) —Lil Napoleon |

Wednesday, July 9, 2003 at 5:53 PM The one that used to drive me NUTS was the one for some crisis hotline I believe, can't remember exactly. It had this annoying woman almost crying on the phone, and she would say, "My husband's a great guy. When he's not drinking, you just want to be around him, y'know? But now, if you can't help me, help him, then I gotta go!!!!" The "I gotta go" part being said in near hysterics. It never made any sense and I heard it all the time. She has go where? Off the phone? Fine. Away from her husband? Good. She should leave him. Man that ad bugged the hell out of me. —Logo Lou |
